Once again, another exciting year has come to a close for the Butler Community College Livestock Judging Team. As usual, the program continues to rank among the nation’s elite! This year’s team competed in twelve recognized contests. For the fifth consecutive year Butler ranked amongst contest top ten in every outing, a testament to the competitive excellence and consistency of our program.

With team members from both coasts and everywhere in between this year’s team ran up some amazing accomplishments. They include top three team finishes on ten occasions and seven Champion and Reserve Champion overall team trophies returned to El Dorado. As has come to be a hallmark of Coach Mullinix’s teams, this squad received Champion or Reserve titles in the prestigious Oral Reasons division a remarkable eight times! Along the way thirty-one individuals were recognized amongst contest top ten.

“As usual, I’m so proud of each student's level of progress and commitment to our program,” Coach Mullinix stated. “This team was just a joy to travel with, worked incredibly hard and enjoyed tremendous success. Most importantly their level of commitment extended to the classroom where they finished the year with a 3.51 team GPA. They have truly left an awesome mark on our program! ”

This year’s Championship honors included the Mid-American Classic, Tulsa State Fair and Iowa Beef Expo. The team also received Reserve Champion honors in major competition at the National Western in Denver, the Arizona National in Phoenix and the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show in Fort Worth.
