Biology Advising

Which Anatomy and Physiology class is right for me?

Interactive Advising for Microbiology
Interactive Advising for other Biology Classes

Purpose of this Advising Webpage:

(The following recommendations are based on the performance of past students. We offer these recommendations based on their record. )
  • Officially there are no pre-requisites for any biology classes. However, we commonly experience a drop rate of 25 to 33% from certain classes. Students who enroll in these classes and must later drop, represent failures for our school. We wish to reduce these failures.
  • Proper advisement before enrolling is likely to increase the success of students completing these classes.
    • Many of the students who do not complete these classes are not properly prepared.
    • Those students who want to enter the health-related professions often do not understand how rigorous the courses are.
  • Most students need to achieve a "B" or better grade in majors biology, anatomy and physiology, or microbiology - not just passing grades of a C in order to enter into health related programs here and elsewhere.
  • We realize that we cannot make students conform to these recommendations, but it should be emphasized that if they persist in enrolling in these courses, even though the results of the interactive advising guide (see links below) suggest otherwise, they are at high risk for not meeting expected goals (or acheiving a lower than desired grade).
  • Below you will find a link to an interactive guide for students to help determine which sequence of classes is the most appropriate.
