  • Butler has outstanding lab facilities. You will experience biology using cutting edge technology and hands-on experience. Our equipment, models, and field related technologies are state of the art. You will have access to these materials both in the classroom and in settings outside the classroom.
  • Butler has small lab classes (a maximum class size of 24 students) so you will be able to work more closely with faculty. Your teachers will get to know you. You are not just a number.
  • Butler faculty have experience in their fields and in teaching. Our eleven full-time faculty members have many years teaching experience at the college level. The faculty includes those with MS, Ph.D., and MD degrees. In addition, our professors teach both lecture and lab sections. This is much better than having a separate lecture instructor and a graduate student as your lab instructor.
  • Scientific Research projects are available to you as a freshman or sophomore. You will have the opportunity to do outside research as an undergraduate. Students have presented their findings at local scientific meetings and published studies in peer -reviewed journals alongside junior and senior level students as well as graduate students.
  • At Butler, your biology class may include opportunities for service learning - from independent research for a community organization, participating in the Walnut River Water Festival, Adopt a Highway, and saving the rainforest through the Nature Conservancy. Service learning opportunities will help you to relate classroom learning with the needs of our community.
  • Biology courses at Butler will provide you with a solid foundation for your career in a medical/allied health field including: MEDICINE- Physician, Nurse (LPN, RN, Nurse practitioner), Physician’s Assistant, Chiropractor, MEDICAL SUPPORT- Paramedic, Medical Technologist, Radiology Technician, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Massage Therapist, DENTISTRY- Dentist, Dental Technician, and Dental Hygienist.
  • If you are searching for a career in Biology, then Butler can help. Biology courses at Butler can also provide you with an introduction to many fields of biology to determine which area you would like to pursue. Bioscience careers include Agricultural Scientist, Food Scientist, Ecologist, and Marine Biologist, Biochemist, Molecular Biologist, Forensic Scientist, Immunologist, Toxicologist, and Microbiologist. Such positions can occur in academia, industry, or government environments.
