Strategic Priorities

- Each department within the Division will fully integrate the Learning PACT skills across the curriculum and maintain all external certification where appropriate. Each department within the Division will utilize data to:
- Complete Learning PACT skill revisions on the courses listed on the revision schedule.
- Establish an “instructor of record” for each IN course to insure revisions and updates to the course outlines.
- Revise “competency cards” in an electronic format to include PACT skills.
- Pilot rubrics for the purpose of assessing Learning PACT and technical skills in one course per department.
- Develop a system and training program for full time and adjunct faculty on the use of the revised competency card system.
- Continue to identify and seek outside accreditations for technical programs.
- Fully implement a performance management review process, utilizing external discipline-specific standards for departments, where available, which documents improved and expanded learning and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Review divisional and departmental Missions and Strategic Priorities to further align with college and instructional Missions and Strategic Priorities.
- Document student successes through surveys, job-placement, transferability to 4-Year colleges, and student and stakeholder satisfaction.
- Develop partnership learning systems through expanded curriculum to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse and growing population in Western Butler County and the Wichita metropolitan area, particularly underserved groups.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of current partnerships and develop strategic plans to improve them.
- Market and work the RadioShack partnership to service students.
- Review and revise one-third of the Tech Prep agreements.
- Identify and develop 2+2 articulations with appropriate colleges and universities.
- Establish and/or maintain effective Advisory Boards and committees that involve community participation to meet the continuing changes and needs within the community.
- Continue Lead Instructor training to get the most out of our Advisory Committees based on the Advisory Committee Handbook.
- Use the Advisory Committee Checklist to document all advisory committee interaction.
- Create multiple learning pathways and learning methods within each department that is appropriate for that discipline and that meets student and stakeholder needs.
- Explore modularized courses for Business Systems Technology students to customize learning opportunities.
- Create non-credit and seminars that relate to technical programs.
- Encourage more students from within the division to take advantage of Cooperative Education.
- Create virtual learning programs, services, and experiences through the development of computer based learning to meet the growing demands for learning that is unrestricted by time and location.
- Incorporate on-line and computer simulators within the technical programs.
- Develop technical Web-centric courses through the Carl Perkins Leadership grant.
- Develop high levels of student engagement within the classroom, outside the classroom, and within the workplace setting.
- Participate in community based/Service-Learning projects as a part of the curriculum.
- Actively encourage students to take advantage of current student leadership organizations such as Delta Epsilon Chi, Phi K appa Phi, Students in Free Enterprise, Phi Beta Lambda, National Vocational Technical Honor Society, etc.
- Actively engage Tech students within the Tech Prep days as demonstrators of technology processes in which future students to participate.
- Provide exceptional Livestock Judging experiences for Agriculture students.
- As learning facilitators, the faculty and staff of the Division will engage in continuing education and training to enhance learning outcomes, student and stakeholder satisfaction and awareness of cultural diversity.
- Faculty and staff will complete or review and update Professional Development Plans and use them for self improvement.
- Determine appropriate conferences that support the strategies and plans of the division and recruit volunteers to attend and bring back ideas and implement them into the division.
- Provide technology training to enable all division employees the ability to complete all required electronic tasks assigned such as to communicate electronically, to maintain financial and academic records, and to develop electronic media for classroom experiences.
- Departments within the Division will research and develop alternative revenue streams wherever appropriate and continue to improve the revenue over expenses of existing revenue generating programs. The division will continue to find ways to utilize the funds available in a prudent and responsible manner.
- Sell services and products produced within the Welding curriculum.
- Collaborate with B&I to develop non-credit classes and seminars to supplement credit courses.
- Improve bottom line on current revenue programs.
