Name: Cheryl Elrod

Position: Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher

Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education

Experience: I operated my home day care for eight years and then was a Lead Teacher for Head Start. In 2006, I became infant/toddler lead teacher at EduCare Center.

Personal Information: I have been married 11 years to Jeff. We have four children ages 9, 11, 14 & 20. The oldest attends college at Butler.

Name: Miny Swigart

Position: Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher

Education: I went to high school in Emporia. After being out of high school for 50 years I began Butler Community College and earned my Child Development Associate in Early Childhood.

Experience: I owned a supper club business in Burns, KS for twenty years. For the past nine years, I have worked with children and it is very rewarding.
Personal Information: My family is very important to me spend and we spend as much time as possible together. I have three grown grandchildren and two grandchildren. I like to cook, sew, watch movies and being with my friends.

Name: Stacey Sullivan

Position: Lead Toddler Teacher

Education: Associates in Early Childhood Degree

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since October 2004. I worked as a student assistant for a year and a half. Then I was an assistant teacher in Blue I nine months before becoming Red II Lead Teacher.

Personal Information: I have seven sisters and one brother. I am the youngest of the girls. I have 18 nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews. I lived in Wichita until I was 14 and then moved to Towanda. I recently bought a house and love it! I love working at EduCare and seeing the children in my room every day.

Position: Assistant Toddler Teacher

Education: I will graduate in May 2008

Experience: I’ve worked at EduCare since summer of 2005. I first started as a student assistant in the infant room and now work with toddlers. I’ve been Red II Assistant Toddler Teacher since summer of 2007.

Personal Information: I graduated from Rose Hill High School in 2005. I am involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program of Butler County. I’m engaged and will be married June 2008.

Name: Casei Drewek

Position: Lead Toddler Teacher

Education: Associates in Early Childhood Education. Working towards Bachelors

Experience: I have worked as the Lead Toddler Teacher in Blue I since April 2007. I was an early childhood student worker for EduCare before coming a Lead Teacher. Prior to EduCare I worked at the Manhattan Headstart for three years.

Personal Information: I am originally from Manhattan Kansas. I moved to El Dorado after living in Emporia for three years. I got married to Brad in March 2008. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family.

Name: Misty Zoglemann

Position: Assistant Toddler Teacher

Education: Currently working towards my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education with anticipated graduation date in Fall of 2008.

Experience: I was a nanny for 5 children ages one through thirteen for three summers. I assisted in a home daycare for 4 months. I began working at EduCare as a early childhood student assistant for seven months and then became Assistant Toddler Teacher in August 2007.

Personal Information: I grew up in Conway Springs, KS. I graduated from High Scholl in May of 2006. I attended Johnson County Community College for a semester and then transferred to Butler County College to finish my associate’s degree. My future plans are to become a director of a daycare facility or to own my own facility.

Name: Earlene Bogart

Position: Lead Toddler/Pre-School Teacher

Education: Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since June of 1997. Prior to EduCare I worked seven years as a paraprofessional with USD 490. I also worked at 1st Baptist Day Care for ten years with a variety of ages.

Personal Information: I have been married to Doug for 37 years. We have four children-Jeni, Brad (son-in-law), Trina and Lee. We have three granddaughters, Klecie, Kylie and Hollie. Our other “children” are two adorable Bassett Hounds, Marley and Zoey. We enjoy traveling and spending time with family.

Education: I am currently working towards my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Currently I have 30+ college credit hours in Early Childhood.

Experience: I worked with various ages at First Baptist Daycare for three years. In Fall of 2005 I began as a student assistant at EduCare then became assistant teacher

Personal Information: I was born and raised in El Dorado. In 2003, I graduated from El Dorado High School. In May, I am expecting the arrival of my first child. I love working with children!

Name: Connie Hamilton

Position: Lead Preschool Teacher

Education: Associates in Arts in Elementary Education; Associates in Art in Early Childhood Education; Attended Mid-American Nazerene for 3 years (vocal music);Attended Friends University 2 years (church music); Currently working towards Bachelors in Early Childhood at Fort Hays State University

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since October 2000. Prior to this, I ran my own home day care for 5 years. I am a Mentor for the Early Childhood Apprenticeship Program In addition to a member of the Early Childhood Advisory Council and Butler County Child and Family Development task Force.

Personal Information: I have been married to Bart Hamilton for twenty years. We have two children Amanda 17 and Brooklyn 12. I enjoy singing, playing the piano, boating, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Name: Carol Turner

Position: Assistant Preschool Teacher

Education: Bachelors of Arts in Individualized Studies from Columbia College. Associates in Early Childhood from Butler Community College.

Experience: I have been working at EduCare for 11 years as Assistant Teacher in Blue I & II, and then Yellow I. Prior to EduCare I volunteered at Head Start for a year.

Personal Information: I am married to my Husband Wayne. I have a cat named Chemise and a dog named Duece. I enjoy volunteering, and I plan to work towards my Masters Degree sometime in the new future.

Name: Kathleen Bertha

Position: Assistant Preschool Teacher

Education: Associates in Early Childhood Education

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since the Fall of 2004 as student for two years. In May of 2006, I became the assistant teacher Yellow II.

Personal Information: I grew up in Cheney, KS with my mother, father, three sisters, and two brothers. I recently graduated with an Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education. In September of 2007, I married Kevin.

Position: Lead Preschool Teacher

Education: Associates Degree Bachelors Degree in Individualized Studies

Experience: I have worked at EduCare Center since May of 2007 and have been the lead teacher of Yellow II since August of 2007. Prior to this, I was a student teacher in Emporia at the Child Development Centers.

Personal Information: I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I have a Chihuahua puppy that takes a lot of my time. I also enjoy spending time with my nephew and playing sports.

Name: Angela Kilgore

Position: Lead Preschool Teacher

Education: Associates of Arts in Early Childhood Education

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since January of 2004 as a student worker. When I completed my degree I was a substitute teacher in various rooms. Then I became to Lead Kindergarten teacher until full day kindergarten began in area schools. In August of 2006, I became Green IA Lead Preschool Teacher.

Personal Information: I have been married since 2002, we have two beautiful girls Ashlynn and Claire. We enjoy having family fun at the parks, movies and playing in the backyard!

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since 2002. I have had the opportunity to be a student assistant, substitute, toddler Assistant Teacher, Preschool Assistant teacher and a toddler lead teacher. I have also had the opportunity to be a director at a different child care center.

Personal Information: I was born in Wichita, Kansas. I was raised in Wichita until I was a freshman in high school when my family moved to the country. I went to Remington High School and loved the smaller environment. I have an older brother which has been married for almost six years. I am very excited because I'm going to get to be an aunt for the very first time. I really love kids.

Name: Brooke Wolf

Position: Traditional Preschool Teacher

Experience: I have worked at EduCare since June 2002. I have always worked with children 3-5 years of age. I had the opportunity to participate in the Kansas Quality Rating System (KQRS) and go through the National Accreditation Process National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

Personal Information: I graduated for Flinthills High School in 2002. I attended Butler Community College from 2002-2004, and Charter Oak State College from 2005-2006. I married my husband, Dallas, on Sept. 30, 2006. We had our first child, William, on June 18, 2007. I have a true passion for young children and enjoy making a difference in their lives.

Name: Susan Duncan

Position: Program Director

Education: Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education from Butler Community College

Experience: I began EduCare Center in October of 1997 as Assistant Director. In May of 2004, I became Director of EduCare Center. I have a National Administrator's Credential as well as a Program Director's License from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. I have over thirty years of progressive and diversified experience in early childhood development. I am a member of the Early Childhood Advisory Council and Butler County Child and Family Development Task Force

Personal Information: I am a proud grandmother of nine girls and two boys, and a mother of two sons and two daughters. I am originally from Indiana and reared in California where I met my husband, Don, of thirty-eight years. We moved to Kansas in the early eighties and began a church. Having a heart for children, my husband and I began to consider expanding. We began a K-12 private school and then our own childcare center. After numerous hours or preparation and receiving funding approved from creative grant writing, we opened a childcare center in 1991. I have worked with children many years, 38 years as a mother, 18 years as a grandmother, and 17 years professionally. Five of my grandchildren live with me and are all attending the EduCare Center. I have seen so many children grow with the EduCare Center as well as with my grandchildren. I am a Butler Alum and am proud to serve not only as a student but also as part of my community and look forward to many years to come.

Name: Jamie Jellison

Position: Assistant Director

Education: Associate's of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Butler Community College; Bachelor's of Science in Individualized Studies with a concentration in Early Childhood Education-Charter Oak State College

Experience: I began working at the EduCare Center in 1997 as a student assistant in various classrooms. I became Lead Teacher in the Yellow I Preschool classroom then Lead Teacher in Green IA Preschool classroom. In March of 2006, I had the opportunity to become Assistant Director of the EduCare Center. Prior to the EduCare Center, I worked in two other childcare centers as lead teacher in various classrooms. I hold a Program Directors License from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. I also developed and teach Principles of Early Childhood I online course for Butler Community College. I am a member of the Early Childhood Advisory Council and Butler County Child and Family Development Task Force.

Personal Information: On May 1, 1999, I married my best friend Troy. Together we have two children. Our first daughter, Taryn, was born Feb. 12, 2002. She was born with Down Syndrome, AV Canal Heart Defect along with severe reflux. On June 10, 2002, she passed away due to heart complications. July 25th, 2003 we were blessed with Teagan Faith, our second child. She keeps us very busy and is always entertaining. I really have the best of both worlds. I am able to work and watch Teagan grow on a daily basis. She loves coming to EduCare to see her friends and to learn! Troy and I could not be happier with the amazing care and education our daughter has received from the teachers in the center.

Name: Sue Sommers Barrientos

Position: Program Administrator

Education: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southwestern College, Master's of Science in Early Childhood Education from Emporia State University, Postgraduate work from ESU and WSU

Experience: I have been in Early Childhood for 38 years. I taught early childhood special education and infant stimulation. I have been teacher, director, and administrator in centers. I have coordinated the BCC Early Childhood program for 27 years and have served as Administrator of our lab site, the EduCare Center, for 11 years.

Personal Information: I was born to be a “Mimi! ” I thought I was born to be an early childhood teacher, but then I became a grandparent and that tops the list! I am married to my dashing husband, John, who is retired from Raytheon and we live in Towanda. Between the two of us, we have 14 grand children and 2 great grandchildren. John has four grown children and I have three. My son, Brody, the computer guru, AP photographer, and trucking safety officer lives in Alva, Oklahoma. My oldest daughter, Ashley, and her husband live in Denver where she is a lawyer, but a very fun one! My youngest daughter, Jamie, is a stylist in Wichita. She is my defense against bad hair days! I teach first and second grade Sunday School to stay grounded. I am a born optimist and believe that most of life is determined by our attitude. I am dedicated to my mission to improve the lives of children.

Name: Teresa Thompson

Position: Early Childhood Instructor

Education: Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Early Childhood from Fort Hays State University; Master's in Education from Baker University

Experience: I have been in education since 1985 after getting my degree from Fort Hays State University. I started out my teaching career as an elementary teacher in Oberlin, Kansas. After my children were born and we moved to El Dorado, I stayed at home for a few years then returned to education as a substitute teacher for El Dorado and Circle school districts for a few years. I began teaching for Butler Early Childhood Department in 1996. I am a member of Vision 2020 community committee, Butler County Child and Family Development Task Force, Butler Community College Early Childhood Advisory Council, Butler Community College Curriculum Committee, and active in Leadership Butler among other organizations.

Personal Information: I have been married to Pat Thompson since 2000. We reside in El Dorado and Pat works at Frontier Refinery. I have one daughter, Erin, one son, Eric, and one-step son, Michael. Both of my children attended EduCare when they were younger. They both attend Circle High School now, but Erin will be attending Butler for the fall 2008 semester on a Fine Arts Scholarship for Journalism.

Position: Cook

Education: I will complete my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood in May 2009.

Experience: I began the EduCare in August of 2002 as a student assistant in various classrooms. January 2006 Ibecame the EduCare cook.

Personal Information: On June 20, 2002 I married John. Together we have two wonderful children. Our daughter, Emily, was born Dec. 11, 2004. She currently attends EduCare and Skelly Early Childhood Program. Our son, Westin, was born June 11, 2005. He attends EduCare part-time and enjoys his time with grandparents on other days. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
