Teresa Wolf Baumgartner, M.Ed
Hello. I'm Teresa Wolf Baumgartner. I received my master's degree from Wichita State University in 1990. This is my tenth year (seventh year full-time) of teaching at Butler Community College. In addition to teaching writing and literature on the El Dorado campus, I teach Introduction to Literature Online. I also advise the college Academic Excellence Challenge Team, an academic competition for high school students across the state. Inquiries about any of these classes or activities may be sent to me at: tbaumgar@butlercc.edu I'm proud to say I'm a fourth-generation Kansan. I graduated from Wichita High School East in 1967, received my bachelor's degree from the University of Kansas in 1971, and taught high school English in Belton, Missouri for three and a half years. Fourteen years, one husband, and three children later, I returned to school and to teaching. My career decision came through the inspiration of a high school literature teacher. In her classroom, I experienced for the first time how literature can be a window to the wonders--and horrors--of the universe, and how reading and sharing conversations about reading can help us make sense of the universal human experiences in life. My husband is a roofing contractor in the Wichita area who loves to hunt, fish, and play at farming on some land we have in Greenwood County. We live in a log home in rural Andover. In my spare time I teach Sunday school, garden, and spend time with my husband, six dogs, five cats, two horses, and one potbellied pig. That's about all I have time for these days, in the way of hobbies.
