Julie Wishart

Julie Wishart earned her undergraduate degree in English from the University of Oklahoma and currently teaches English Composition, Introduction to Literature, and Fundamentals of English.

A native Oklahoman, Wishart grew up in a family of avid readers and active conversationalists where she quickly developed an interest in literature which explored such themes as family relationships, personal struggle and triumph, cultural diversity, and innocence lost. While at OU, Wishart was involved in the Oklahoma Writing Project, the Writing Academy and student tutoring. After moving to Kansas, she completed her master's degree in English at Wichita State University where her thesis project focused upon improving writing across all course disciplines. Through teaching at Butler, Wishart is given the opportunity to enhance student writing skills, discover talented writers, and benefit from the ideas of fellow colleagues in the English department. In addition to writing and reading, Wishart enjoys watching and participating in sports, volunteering with charities and service organizations, and being active in the community, all of which provide a host of colorful subjects and characters about which to write.
