Information Services Master Planning

Over the next 36 months Butler will be focused on major information technology enhancements that will drive a digital transformation for the college through integrated teaching and learning, safety and security, and enhanced constituent services projects.

Some of our physical technology challenges and risks are exhibited by lack of a hardened data center, environmentally appropriate building/floor level communication/data closets, building infrastructure to support current and next generation technology for enriched and high engagement teaching and learning, and physical space to accommodate increased Information Services staffing.

The planned technology projects designed to begin addressing the vision and challenges stated above are:

  • Multi-strand single mode fiber on the El Dorado Campus and Andover 5000 building
  • College wide Physical Security focusing on integrated video surveillance, access controls, classroom notification, alert and alarm systems, and digital display
  • Boarder to boarder wireless access supporting indoor and outdoor teaching and learning
  • Converged infrastructure to include servers, switches, storage, UPS systems, and data warehouse solution
  • Tier 2 Hardened Data Center
  • Digital Signage offering both centralized and decentralized content management
  • Learning Spaces technology solutions to support indoor and outdoor teaching and learning activities
  • Front facing concierge style Service Centers in El Dorado and Andover
