About Nursing

A respected degree program worthy of a proud profession.

Nursing is both a profession and a calling, a profession that provides you with a lifetime of serving others. Nurses are critical members of the health care team, providing quality patient care and combining both the science and art of nursing. As a nurse, you have the unique privilege of caring for patients through all aspects of their health care needs.

Butler’s program is designed to prepare you for the increasingly complex challenges of nursing. Our faculty bring years of diverse clinical experience to the classroom. They are innovators in the way they approach the learning experience, working to build your capacity for nursing judgement, to include critical thinking, clinical problem solving, and clinical judgment. The quality of their instruction has earned Butler’s nursing program wide respect in the region.

A hybrid learning environment

Our program blends online content with classroom instruction, giving you both the flexibility of online learning, as well as the irreplaceable value of interacting with instructors and students on campus. In our learning studios and Clinical Learning Center, we have developed simulated clinical environments that immerse you in the look and feel of the nursing experience.

There is a testing requirement for acceptance to Butler’s nursing program which validates that you have the combination of reading, math and science abilities that are critical to your success in the program. You can learn more about these and other admission policies in the Nursing Student Handbook.

For those who are accepted to our program, the rewards are every bit as enriching as the work is challenging. Nurses are in high demand year after year, and their value is increasingly being recognized in their compensation. If you ask our graduates, they will tell you that the greatest reward is to see the difference they make in their patients’ lives. Our nursing alumni will also tell you that their learning experience at Butler made all the difference in their success.
