Getting started online.
About five days before your online classes are scheduled to begin, we will send you an e-mail through your Pipeline account that includes information about:
- Orientation scheduling
- How to log into your classes
- When your classes will begin
We encourage you to log onto Butler Online as soon as you get this information to become familiar with the course structure and navigation. Be sure to purchase the required course materials right away, as well.
To get the most out of your Butler Online experience, we recommend that first-time users attend an orientation. Orientations are scheduled at the start of each term in the L.W. Nixon Library on the El Dorado campus, and the Andover High School library in Andover.
During the orientation, you will be introduced to Canvas, the current Learning Management System. If you are unable to attend an orientation session on campus, please be sure to review our Virtual Online Orientation. This orientation takes the user on a tour of the online environment from virtually anywhere.
To participate in orientation, you should be prepared to use your Pipeline email and password. Helpdesk personnel will be available to provide assistance with this information. It is also helpful to have a copy of your course schedule at hand.
Participants are welcome anytime during the scheduled blocks of time. However, plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before the end of the session. If a first time online student is unable to attend a scheduled orientation, it is the student's responsibility to contact the instructor with any questions about the course.
