Fire Science

Ignite your future.

As automated as so many of our processes are these days, there's still no substitute for the personal courage, skill and commitment that firefighters must possess. Their service will always be an irreplaceable asset to our communities.

Students in the Fire Science program at Butler Community College have access to premier training opportunities like none other in the state of Kansas. Students gain greater exposure to “live” fire situations with our state-of-the-art training tower and have the unique opportunity to live in a fire station via our Fire Science Residency program open to 1st and 2nd-year students. Read more about the Training tower!

Residency Program

Get real experience before you graduate! Ten students are selected for residency and may reside in the station for the duration of their studies or as long as they maintain eligibility. Each student is assigned to a specific municipal fire department in and around El Dorado and are classified as a volunteer firefighter. Residents are assigned specific shifts to gain on-the-job experiences. Get in while you can!
