IT Institute Academic Coach (grant-funded position)

Butler Community College is seeking a full-time, twelve month Recruiter for the Trade Adjustment Assistance Community College and Career Training (TAACCCT) Project to assess industry/student needs, goals, interests and prior academic experiences in order to engage regional manufacturers in sector partnerships, encourage on-site learning environments and enhance student skill sets. The Recruiter will collaborate with faculty members, as well as industry leaders to address the academic needs of individuals or groups of students based on set curriculum and industry need. This position will also be responsible for understanding and interpreting the project narrative as well as the academic programs associated with the project.

Director of Early College Health Science Academy

Full-time

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Director of Early College Health Science Academy, under the direction of the Division Dean, will coordinate academic offerings consistent with the early college philosophy and curriculum structure; assess learner needs within the community; develop programs of study; arrange for adequate teaching/learning resources; implement and direct the Early College Health Science Academy (ECHSA); evaluate faculty and program outcomes. The Director of ECHSA will maintain positive collaborative relationships with the Dean, Early College Health Science faculty, other divisions and functions within the college, and external partners including articulating programs and services. Required Knowledge and Skills: knowledge of the unique needs of Early College Health Science Academy students; the ability to demonstrate and apply pedagogy to all curriculum area; the ability to interact professionally and effectively with faculty, administration, staff, students and community.; the ability to use independent judgment; the ability to demonstrate oral and written communication skills; organizational and time management skills; knowledge of budgeting and purchasing procedures; basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database management computer skills; and knowledge of Banner system. Required Experience: teaching and administration or program management experience. Community College experience preferred. Required Educational Background: Master’s degree. Accommodation Specialist, Disability Services

Part-time/28 hours per week/

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Position serves as paraprofessional assistant to the Director of Disability Services to provide supportive services for students with disabilities. Shall be responsible for assisting students with class assignments, study skill development, and testing in academic/vocational courses. (28 hour per week position). Required Knowledge and Skills: a good background in working with persons with disabilities; excellent arbitration skills to disseminate anger and frustration and turn into cooperative learning experience; need to be open and honest, and willing to incorporate the principle of “tough love” in dealing with persons with disabilities; ability to work as a team member to assist in the efficient operation of the entire division; typing and word processing skills (accuracy imperative); above average reading and writing skills; excellent oral communication skills -- listening and speaking; organizational, filing, and general clerical skills; patience and ability to relate pleasantly to upset people; ability to be tactful and to maintain confidentiality (a high priority in the division); and the ability to work as a team member to assist in the efficient operation of the entire division. Preferred Experience: previous work in an educational setting preferred and previous paraprofessional experience with disabled students in a high school or college setting preferred. Freight Handler/Courier

Part-time/28 hours per week/9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The part-time Freight Handler/Courier is responsible to the Technical Services Supervisor for duties involving freight. In the absence of the Technical Services Supervisor, the position will report to the Facilities Management Office Secretary. As freight handler/courier, the position is responsible for the unloading and processing and stocking of freight. The position is responsible for maintaining all freight that is delivered to Facilities Management. In addition, the position will act as a courier to off campus sites as needed. Must be willing to work overtime as needed if schedule permits. Must possess computer skills, and be able to lift heavy boxes repetitively, able to operate hydraulic loading dock and be able to drive large vans and trucks. Must also be qualified to drive college vehicles. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Nursing Instructor

Mental Health Focus

Full time/9 month contract

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Under the direction of the lead instructor, the full-time Nursing Instructor for Butler Community College is responsible for instruction of nursing students to include classroom, laboratory and clinical area instruction. Must demonstrate thorough and accurate knowledge of the discipline, display an ability to interpret and evaluate theories in the discipline, connect subject matter with related fields, and stay current in subject matter through professional development. Will meet with course faculty to discuss, plan and evaluate course curriculum including objectives, syllabus, content, learning experience, evaluation tools and mechanics of courses. Must have computer skills. Must have a current Kansas RN License. Master’s degree in Nursing required, with a minimum of one year of demonstrated nursing experience in the hospital setting.
