Butler Community College provides Student Connect (OR102-0) to assist our new first year students learn to set better goals utilize college and community resources, and improve your academic and life success skills. Student Connect is required for all first time college students who are taking at least 12 credit hours.
The course is designed to help students learn Butler academic rules and procedures, setting appropriate goals and strategies, use Butler resources more efficiently, improve your study skills to college level, and continuously improve your skills for life after Butler. Other skills addressed are: dealing with conflicts, time and priorities management techniques, academic integrity, transfer requirements, how to better plan for change, working with instructors and college peers, and how to plan for continuous personal improvement.
Some sections have second-year Butler Students assigned to help "mentor" you through the new challenges of college.
This course ( OR102-0) will help students better navigate the Butler Pipeline web portal, use Butler email, and other helpful Butler resources. An introduction to interpersonal skills and class activities to meet new friends and study partners is another part of the Student Connect course and summer orientation. Student Connect (OR102-0) provides a general introduction to the Butler Learning PACT Skills concept with an instructor or a mentor who can help the new student through the first months of college.
