Butler has a full-color student magazine, The Grizzly, that comes out three times during the academic year.   Activity scholarships which cover tuition (equivalent to that paid by Kansas residents) and books are available for staff.   Students focus on all aspects of magazine publishing – writing, photography, management, layout/design, estimating costs and budgeting.   The students are able to display their work on high-gloss, full-color pages.  

Members of  the Grizzly staff have claimed five consecutive Journalist of the Year awards from the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press, in addition to numerous other awards.  

Staff members have moved on to the work force, publications and four-year schools.
