You can try your hand at producing, directing, writing, on-camera performance and production in the studio and the field on Butler Television (BCTV 20). The station airs daily over cable systems in El Dorado, Augusta and Towanda, combines syndicated shows produced outside of Butler, programming created by our professional General Manager and student-produced shows. You will work on magazine feature shows like Campus Edge, skit/comedy entertainment shows like McGrizzles, interview/news shows and independent projects. Students in the past have shot music videos, short films and corporate training projects; your imagination is the only limiting factor.
Activity scholarships, which cover tuition (equivalent to that paid by Kansas in-county residents) and books, are available each semester for Butler Television staff. You don't need to major in Mass Communications in order to participate or receive a scholarship, but are required to work on radio, television, and internet projects.
Butler Television has been honored by local and state organizations including the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. Students regularly showcase their television projects in national festivals sponsored by the National Broadcasting Society and Collegiate Broadcasting Inc. Former Butler Television students have gone on to four-year institutions, affiliate television stations, and corporate production facilities.
