Keyboard Courses

BCC offers several sections of class piano designed to put each beginning student in a laboratory situation. The facilities include a fully equipped 10-unit electronic lab with instructional visualizer and computer usage with midi-keyboard. Students majoring in music have the opportunity to take piano proficiency skill preparation. Pianists interested in teaching may enroll in Piano Pedagogy and are offered experience in teaching beginning classes to children. The more advanced pianists may wish to enroll in Applied Piano for private instruction. Accompanists will benefit from Keyboard Accompaniment class. Organ keyboard instruction is also given with emphasis on recreational skills as well as worship service playing.

Scholarships: The program of financial aid and awards at BCC includes scholarships, grants, loans and the work-study program. A limited number of Keyboard Music activity scholarships are available. Students need not major in keyboard music to qualify for an activity scholarship. Generally, these scholarships cover the cost of books and tuition equivalent to that paid by Kansas residents. A student interested in a keyboard scholarship should contact the Keyboard Music director at (316) 323-6924 or dial 218-6924 from the Wichita/metro area.

In addition to the performing ensembles and classes for music majors, BCC offers several music classes open to anyone seeking additional musical background. These include: Beginning Piano Class, Beginning Guitar Class, Music Appreciation, Jazz Improvisation, Applied Music Lessons, Fundamentals of Music, Musical Theatre, and Introduction to Contemporary Music.
