Eileen Dreiling Appointed to Board of Trustees

Eileen Dreiling of Augusta was sworn in as a Butler Community College Trustee earlier this month during the group’s regular monthly meeting.

The Butler Trustees appointed Dreiling to the board to fill a vacancy created by Candace Kunkel who moved out of District 2, Position 2. Dreiling will serve until the position is up for re-election on June 30, 2019.

Dreiling has several years of educational experience, serving 22 years as an educator and 15 years as an administrator, most of that within the August school district. She also spent 18 years coaching high school volleyball which included a 1982 state championship for Augusta High School.

Her administration experience began in 1997 as Dean of Students for Augusta High School. She was later named assistant high school principal in 2001, and then Augusta Middle School principal in 2006. In 2013, Dreiling retired and was named Mentor for New Principals by the Kansas Educational Leadership Institute (KELI) that same year.

Dreiling was recognized for her leadership skills in 2009 when she was named the recipient of The National Association of Secondary School Principals State Principal of the Year for the state of Kansas.
She is a current member of the Kansas Association of Retired School Principals. She holds masters degrees, in Educational Administration and Supervision, and in Sports Administration, both from Wichita State University. Her bachelor’s degree is from Fort Hays State University in Physical Education with a minor in Health Education. She’s a mother of three grown children, Hana, Heidi and Harrison.
