The Board of Commissioners of the ACBSP (Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs) met on Nov. 17 and voted to grant Butler’s academic business programs full ACBSP accreditation.

The board identified zero conditions for the accreditation. Butler has maintained accreditation with the ACBSP since 2005 for their Business Administration, Business Systems Technology, and Marketing/Management programs.

“This is an outstanding accomplishment for Butler and our Business programs, and truly a testament to the commitment of our Business faculty to their students,” said Dr. Kimberly Krull, Butler Community College President. “Accreditation processes are rigorous and comprehensive. To have received full ACBSP accreditation for 10 years with no reservations or conditions speaks to the leadership of Jared McGinley, department chair for Marketing and Management, all the outstanding faculty in the Business programs, and to their expectations of excellence.”

The ACBSP accredits nearly 3,000 programs at more than 430 college campuses around the globe. ACBSP acknowledges the importance of scholarly research and inquiry and believes that such activities facilitate improved teaching. Institutions are strongly encouraged to pursue a reasonable mutually beneficial balance between teaching and research. The ACBSP also encourages faculty involvement within the contemporary business world to enhance the quality of classroom instruction and to contribute to student learning.

“I commend Jared and his team for all the hard work and time they committed to sustaining the ACBSP accreditation,” said Mel Whiteside, dean of Butler’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division. “This accreditation speaks to the quality and integrity of Butler’s business faculty.”
