Interlibrary Loan Policies & Procedures

You may send a request through the INTERLIBRARY LOAN FORM -- or --
Request forms may be picked up at the circulation desk in the library. One form should be filled out for each request. After completing the request form, turn it in to either Interlibrary Loan desk or the circulation desk. If you have any questions you may email lmarley@butlercc.edu.

Students, faculty and community members may easily obtain resources from other libraries. The Kansas Library Catalog is a searchable database that contains holdings from libraries across Kansas.   Many other library holdings are available on the Internet.

Purpose

To obtain research materials not owned by this library from other libraries.

Eligibility
Interlibrary Loan service is available to current students, faculty, staff, and community members. A request for material through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) should be considered only after exhausting all our own library’s resources.

Charges
Through reciprocal agreements we are able to obtain most materials for free. If there is a charge, we will pay the first $5.00.

Time Required

Most Interlibrary Loans take between 7 to 14 days. Books are sent through the US mail via Library Rate, which is less expensive but often slow. Please keep this in mind when making your request.

Notification

The Interlibrary Loan staff notifies borrowers by phone or e-mail when their requests have been received. Patrons who wish to inquire about the status of their request are welcome to check at the circulation desk.

Picking Up Materials

Pick up borrowed materials at the circulation desk. Please remember to bring your library card.

Returning and Renewing
Return borrowed materials to the circulation desk. Many lending libraries will not make Interlibrary Loan renewals, so we cannot accept requests for renewals. Failure to return material by the due date will jeopardize future ILL borrowing privileges.

Financial Responsibility
Lost materials, damaged materials, and overdue fines are the responsibility of the borrower.
