Began teaching for Butler in January of 1982 in a joint position with Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She joined Butler full-time in the fall of 1982.
Janice attended Butler from 1971-72 and then transferred to Pittsburg State University where she obtained her bachelor's degree in nursing. She completed her masters in nursing from Wichita State University in 1981 while a staff nurse in obstetrics at SBAMH and while managing the SBAMH home health department.
Area of Professional Interest:
Diabetes has always been an interest of Janice's.
During a sabbatical in 1992 she obtained her Clinical Nurse Specialist in Diabetes.
She is a consultant to SBAMH's American Diabetes Association recognized Diabetes Education Program and spends time in most summers at Camp Discovery, a camp for kids with diabetes.
While President-elect of KSNA, Janice wrote and led through the district, state, and national levels a resolution called the "Nightingale Tribute" . This tribute honors nurses at their funerals for their life's service as a nurse. There is a brochure about the Nightingale tribute here.
She is active in the Kansas State Nurses' Association andl served as president from 2003-2005.
Area of Personal Interest:
Janice likes to play golf and read murder mysteries. Her favorite authors are John Grisham, Mary Higgins Clark, Jeffrey Dever and Patricia Cornwell.
