• The Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) measures your reading comprehension, English skills (such as grammar and punctuation), the rate at which you read, basic math skills, and science knowledge.
• The T.E.A.S. test is required for admission into the Butler Department of Nursing Program.
• This test will be completed on the computer and will take approximately 3 hours.
  

All TEAS tests will be given on the Butler of El Dorado campus.

The TEAS Tests will be given in the Connell Nursing Technology Center room 15-236A in the 1500 building on the Butler of El Dorado campus.

Call the Butler Department of Nursing office to check space availability for test dates. (316.322.3140 or 733.3140 from Wichita)

• Students must have an application to the Butler Nursing Department on file when registering for the test. It can be submitted at the same time the student registers for the TEAS Test.
• The application form for TEAS test can be obtained by calling the Department of Nursing or clicking
  here or here .
• Registrations are recorded on a first come, first serve basis. Once that date is full, no further applications for that date can be taken. Testing space tends to fill up quickly.
• The application and registration fee must be postmarked one week in advance of the date of the test. Telephone reservations will not be accepted.
• The registration fee is $35. Send a check or money order, payable to Butler Nursing to:

• The applicant is responsible for the registration fee, which must be paid at the time of registration.
• The registration fee is non refundable. Applicants who cancel or do not show up the date of the exam will be required to complete another registration form and pay the full registration fee when rescheduling.
• The exam must be taken in time to document the score with the nursing office prior to the application cut off dates of May 20 for August admission and September 20 for January admission.
• The admission assessment exam must be taken within the last five years of the date of application to the nursing department.
• If the applicant wants to apply a TEAS score from another institution, the student must request the administering institution notarize and mail verification of the student's score to the Department of Nursing Office.

• A study guide is available in the Butler Bookstore in El Dorado and Andover campuses and in the Nixon Library on the Butler El Dorado campus.
• Study guides may also be purchased from the Assessment Technologies Institute at www.atitesting.com

• The student must bring a picture ID to be admitted into the testing lab. Students will not be allowed to take the test without photo identification.
• Please arrive at the Connell Nursing Technology Center at least 15 minutes before the starting time. Late applicants will not be admitted once the test has started.
• Use of calculators will not be allowed during the test.
• Bring two pencils to the test. Paper will be provided.
• Pagers and cell phones will not be allowed in the testing area.

• Test results will be given to the student at the completion of the test. A copy of the test score will be attached to the student's application to the Butler Department of Nursing.

• The TEAS Test may be repeated only one time,

  with the best composite score used for the selective admission formula. It is the student's discretion as to when they choose to take the exam; before, during or following prerequisite courses.
• The student will be required to complete another registration form and pay the full registration fee when rescheduling retakes.
