COURSE DESCRIPTION:
MU154. Instrumental Workshop I. 1 hour
credit. Prerequisites: Ability to read music proficiently and concurrent
enrollment in College Band. This class provides for sectional rehearsal
of concert band repertoire for brass, woodwind, and percussion players.
It also allows for master class presentations and performances for players
in each of those instrument groups.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The primary objective of Instrumental
Workshop is to facilitate the refinement of performance repertoire for
the Concert Band and to offer focused instruction in the unique aspects
of brass, woodwind, and percussion playing.
TOPICAL OUTLINE OF UNITS:
- Warm-up
- Scales and Arpeggios
- Tuning
- Rehearsal/Master Class
Methods of class instruction may include: rehearsal, audio-visual; class discussions; attending live concert performances; guest clinicians.
METHODS OF EVALUATION:
Methods of evaluation may include: class
attendance; subjective analysis of students attitude and sense of decorum's;
concert reports; and other methods of evaluation at the description of
the instructor.
