COURSE DESCRIPTION:
MU165. Pep Band I. 1 hour credit. Prerequisites:
high school band/consent of instructor. Membership in the Pep Band is
conditioned primarily on the instrumentation needs of the ensemble. Effort
is made to recruit as many interested players as possible while maintaining
a balanced ensemble. The band performs popular musical styles for sporting
events.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
At the completion of this course the
students should:
- execute all music in Pep Band repertoire in terms of note accuracy, rhythm, phrasing, articulation, intonation, dynamics, and tempo.
- discharge logistical responsibilities through requisite participation in all phases of staging, transfer, setup, striking, and return of the bands equipment.
- attend and participate fully in all required music rehearsals and performances.

Methods of class instruction may include: rehearsal; class discussion; exercises in aural skills and music theory.
Telecourses: Independent study of audio/video materials augmented by text and study guide; collaboration and participation with class members and faculty via available means. Faculty role is facilitator of learning experiences.
METHODS OF EVALUATION:
- Continual observation and monitoring by instructor
- Attendance and participation records
Students with impaired sensory, manual or speaking skills are encouraged and have the responsibility to contact their instructor, in a timely fashion, regarding reasonable accommodation needs.
