The TRiO Student Support Services program is a federally-funded program of the U.S. Department of Education. It is designed to assist students in developing skills essential to college level success. Students receive assistance with advising, educational counseling, tutoring, mentoring, financial aid resources, career planning and academic development.
The program increases retention, transfer, and graduation rates by providing and coordinating various educational support services. Staff includes a Math Specialist and math tutors, as well as a Reading/Writing Specialist. Workshops are presented regularly on a variety of topics, including study skills, motivation, and financial aid. Campus visits are provided for numerous public and private colleges throughout the state. TRiO is targeted to serve first-generation college students, low-income students, or students with a disability.
