Through hands-on experience in the college’s state-of-the-art training tower, you are exposed, first-hand, to a variety of elements – including rope rescue, forcible entry and fire evolutions. Exclusive Training Tower Used by the Pros & Butler students

The training tower was built by Butler Community College, the El Dorado Fire Department and the City of El Dorado. It is three stories tall with a rooftop, allows fire science students to train more extensively in a realistic environment. Components of the tower include a burn room, smoke features and simulation for high rise evacuations. This state of the art facility allows consistent and year-round training opportunities for not only Butler fire science students, but also professional firefighters from the region.

Butler's Fire Science residency program is so unique it is the only one of its kind in the state of Kansas. As part of our partnership with the El Dorado Fire Department, our program offers the opportunity to work alongside professional firefighters. You won't just study in a hands-on learning environment: you'll live it. Residents have specific shifts to gain on-the-job experiences you won't find anywhere else.
