Hello, my name is Kendrick Clay. I have been in coaching and teaching since 1998. I have spent the majority of my career as a Collegiate Cross Country and Track and Field coach and an instructor of Human Performance courses.  I've coached at small private institutions in Kentucky, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.  During my career  I have coached over 200 National qualifiers and 105 All-American performances throughout my career.  I was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference Track and Field Men's Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2010.

I attempt to bring those same coaching, teaching and leadership skills to the classroom.  It is my intent to help every student acquire the knowledge necessary and skills to make sounds decisions as a future professional and person. I practice what I preach.  I'm an avid cyclist that logs over 5,000 miles most years and a former competitive runner.  It's my belief that I need to model the appropriate behaviors and decisions for those that I'm honored to lead.

I hold a Master of Arts Degree in Physical Education from Minnesota State-Mankato and I received my Bachelor of Arts in History/Leisure Studies from Hastings College in 1996.  In addition to those degrees I hold USA Track and Field Level 2 Certifications in Applied Biomechanics, Exercise Physiology and Sport Psychology as they apply to Endurance Events and Jumping Events.

Below are just a few other things I have done outside the classroom, which I believe help my efforts in leading students in the learning environment and model citizenship.

  • 2018 Grand Island (Nebraska) Kiwanis Club President
  • 2007 & 2010 GPAC Men's Track and Field COY
  • Class 31 Grand Island Leadership Tomorrow Graduate
  • 2022 Ride4Refugees participant
  • USATF Level 2 Coach (Endurance and Jumping events)
  • Former NAIA Track and Field Coaches Association Officer
