Valerie Haring received an Associate of Arts Degree from Butler Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Education from Emporia State University and a Master's Degree from Wichita State University in Art Education. She began teaching at Butler in 1991. She is currently the Lead Instructor for the Art Department and was previously the director of the Erman B. White gallery for 10 years. Valerie was honored as the 2007 Butler Master Teacher.
Haring creates both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artworks that range from realistic portraits to abstract, conceptual paintings. She exhibits her art regionally and has work in many private collections. Her passions are teaching art, making art, reading, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends. She resides in El Dorado, Kansas with her two sons, Jordon and Jaxon.
Professor Oehm received the Master of Fine Arts Degree in Painting from Wichita State University in 1981 after completing the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. He began teaching at Butler Community College in 1992 after 14 years of teaching at Wichita State University, Wichita Center for the Arts and privately in his Wichita studio.
Oehm’s figurative paintings and drawings have been shown in regional, national and international exhibitions. His works can be found in numerous private, corporate and university collections. He loves German sports cars, discussing art, new music, and film with his students, and spending time in his studio.
