About Automotive Technology

Automotive Technology at Butler

Experience is the best teacher, and there’s a lot of it under our hood.

There’s a lot that is automated about today’s cars. As advanced as they are, cars on the road today require technology that is equal to the challenge of keeping them there. Not to mention technicians who know all there is to know about both.

Butler’s Automotive Technology program gives you the comprehensive training necessary to prepare you for ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certification as an Automotive Technician. Working with cutting-edge technology in our fully equipped Advanced Technology Center, you will get hands-on exposure to every aspect of a car’s mechanical, electrical and fuel systems. You’ll learn how to diagnose performance issues and address them with the proper repair procedures.

You’ll also get the opportunity to get up to your elbows in the real world with our internship programs. You can even take a paid position at a real shop in our Cooperative Education classes. Of course, our instructors bring every foot-pound of their extensive experience to bear on your everyday training in our labs and classrooms.  So by the time you graduate, the real world will seem as familiar as a box wrench.

Butler gives you the ability to become even more marketable with a paid internship. The college is collaborating with Scholfield Honda, Rusty Eck Ford, Davis Moore Lincoln and Parks Chevrolet of Augusta for these internships, with hopes to add more at a later date. Students will spend two weeks at each dealership to complete the eight week internship.
