About Adult Education

A brighter future could be just a few classes away.

As you’ve probably noticed, it’s a different world out there. The workplace has been permanently altered by ever-advancing technology. Rising in the ranks or just getting a job more often than not requires some level of education beyond high school.

Sharpen Your Skills or Prepare to Earn Your High School Diploma

Of course, it’s never easy to shift gears and go back to school, but Butler’s Adult Education program can help. Classes are available to stregnthen your knowledge in math, reading and critical thinking. If you need to take the GED exam, we can take you through a customized plan to strengthen your knowledge of the areas that are most challenging for you. You can take your GED exam on either our El Dorado or Andover campuses by appointment.

Pathways to technical jobs or college

You may be interested in getting technical training to pursue job or advancement opportunities in a variety of fields. The Kansas Board of Regents, in partnership with the Kansas Department of Commerce, has implemented Accelerating Opportunity in Kansas (AO-K) to transform the delivery system for adult education in Kansas by delivering career and technical education at the same time as adult basic skills instruction within a career pathways framework. Students complete short-term certificate programs aligned with labor market needs, leading to industry-recognized credentials and immediate jobs.

Many students who attend our classes are interested in pursuing a college degree. If you have been out of school for some time, Adult Education is a great way to sharpen your study skills in preparation for college. We can also help you identify areas that you need to work on through placement testing.

There are even classes for students who just want to improve in some skill areas that will enrich your life, such as basic literacy, English language skills, and digital literacy.  For those that qualify, online coursework is available.

Getting started is easy.

Adult Education classes start about every eight weeks, and with multiple class locations, chances are good that you can find a location convenient for you.
