John J. Hetts, Ph.D., is the Senior Director of Data Science at Educational Results Partnership and a member of the Multiple Measures Assessment Project research team the California Guided Pathways Advisory Committee, and the statewide AB705 Implementation Workgroup. He is also a California Educational Policy Fellow and a Complete College America Fellow. Formerly, he helped lead the statewide Multiple Measures Work Group in California (as part of the Common Assessment Initiative), provided implementation support for the Student Transcript-Enhanced Placement Study (STEPS) conducted by the RP Group, and was the Director of Institutional Research at Long Beach City College during its implementation of multiple measures-based assessment as part of its Promise Pathways program. Building on twenty years of experience in instruction and research in higher education, his work focuses on identifying untapped potential in educational data. His work on predictive modeling of student placement into and performance in foundational courses won the 2012 RP Group Best College Research Award (with Andrew Fuenmayor and Karen Rothstein, the 2014 ACCCA Mertes Award (with Andrew Fuenmayor), and the 2015 RP Group Best Statewide Research Award as part of the Multiple Measures Assessment Project Research team. He received his doctorate from UCLA in Social Psychology with a specialization in Measurement and Psychometrics and holds a B.A. with Distinction and Honors from Stanford University.
Education Evaluation Consultant
Dawn Coleman is an educational researcher and evaluator who has spent the last decade working primarily with community colleges to support the very important work they do. Her areas of focus include program evaluation, implementation research, and data reporting and visualization. She is especially passionate about making these topics accessible to practitioners and building their own evaluation and data capacity. She has an EdS in Higher Education (Adult and Developmental Education) from Appalachian State University and is currently working towards a PhD in Education Psychology and Research at the University of South Carolina. Dawn was previously the Director of the Center for Applied Research at Central Piedmont Community College. She is a frequent presenter at researcher/evaluator conferences, including the American Evaluation Association and the Council for the Study of Community Colleges, and community college practitioner conferences, including the League for Innovation, DREAM, the National Association for Developmental Education, and the Conference on Acceleration in Developmental Education.
