About Vocal Music
Sing where your song will really be heard.
Singing is a fulfilling experience whether you pursue it to build a career or simply to enrich your life. The more you know about the art of vocal music, the more enjoyment your voice will bring you and everyone you share it with. But training your voice to its full potential requires you to pursue a mastery of technique, a dedication to practice and a confidence in your ability to perform.
In two years of study at Butler, you will be exposed to rigorous classroom instruction from world-class faculty as well as a broad range of performing opportunities that will build both your talent and your confidence as a vocalist. You’ll learn to read music and develop a facility for identifying chords, intervals and scales. Our instructors work closely with each student, and our small-class environment contributes to a collaborative, encouraging atmosphere.
We’re practiced at performing.
You can audition to participate in a number of choral groups that perform throughout the year, including our a cappella pop, chamber, ladies show choir, mixed show choir and 110-member concert chorus. What sets Butler apart from the rest is guaranteed performance experience; get on stage early and get the confidence you need to set yourself apart. Our students have regularly represented Butler on the road at show choir festivals and have hosted events like the National Showstoppers Competition in Nashville as well as the National FAME Show Choir Competition.
We have numerous scholarships available for students who qualify by audition. If you love to sing and want to be a part of a respected vocal music program, you won’t find a warmer welcome from instructors who are more dedicated to developing your talent than here at Butler.
