About Exercise Science

Exercise Science

Matt Sanders, professor, helping stretch student

Exercise Science gives you opportunities to gain an understanding of sport performance through practical, hands-on learning experiences such as sport testing and evaluation, motion analysis, VO2max, Resting Metabolic Rate and biometric screening.  Job opportunities in this field are rapidly increasing. Our aging population, societal health and slow-shifting change in our country’s health care model, from treatment to preventative care, are contributing factors that propel this job field to grow at a rapid rate.

Butler’s Exercise Science program provides you with many opportunities to gain an understanding of many sub-disciplines - including nutrition, anatomy and physiology and biomechanics - through practical, hands-on learning opportunities.

As a terminal degree option, students will be prepared to take the Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  Please refer to www.nsca.com for additional information regarding certification programs.
