First Kansas Board of Nursing Scholarship Winner Since 2016

Of 70 applicants in the state of Kansas, Kristen Crane was chosen as one of four scholarship winners for the Arthur L. Davis Publishing Agency Scholarship presented by the Kansas Board of Nursing (KSBN). Crane is currently attending her third semester as a nursing student at Butler Community College.

Each time the scholarship is offered, a new essay topic is selected for applicants. ‘What Does Professionalism in Nursing Mean to Me’ was the topic in which Crane expressed her thoughts regarding the care and compassion she believes professional nurses should exude.

“To me, professionalism in nursing means being compassionate and caring, honest and trustworthy, inquisitive and truth-seeking, with a passion for giving every patient human-centered care,” wrote Crane.

The rest of Crane’s essay can be found in the 2019 KSBN June-August quarterly newsletter.
