Students mark another year of bringing home broadcasting recognitions.

In mid-March, the Kansas Association of Broadcasters (KAB) announced the winners of this year’s Student Production awards.  Five Butler students and one team received seven awards for radio and television programming created over the past year.

In Kansas, all two-year and four-year undergraduate and graduate programs compete against each other. Butler was the only two-year institution that received awards and ranked 5th in the state compared to awards received by four-year universities (Pittsburg State University and Fort Hays State University each only received one more award than Butler).

Over the 28 years the KAB has sponsored a student production competition, Butler has received 108 first place awards, 97 second place awards, and 108 honorable mentions for a total of 313 awards.

Awards will be presented at a luncheon held during the organization’s Student and Sports Seminar on April 23rd at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs. First and 2nd place winners receive custom plaques, while those receiving an Honorable Mention take home framed certificates.

Listeners can catch a student-led broadcast at 88.1 The Grizz - KBTL Butler Radio. Check out the Mass Communication students’ work in HubSpot, where they share what they’ve created about Butler and the community at https://44357473.hs-sites.com/homepage
