About the Test for Academic Skills (TEAS)
The TEAS measures your reading comprehension, English skills (such as grammar and punctuation), basic math skills, and science knowledge.
Exam Dates, Times, and Location
Test dates will either be at 9:00 a.m. or 12:00 p.m. for Spring 2017 selection. Tests are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
Test dates for students seeking Spring 2017 selection are as follows:
Thursday July 28th, 9:00 a.m.
Tuesday August 2nd, 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday August 10th, 9:00 a.m.
Monday August 15th, 12:00 p.m.
Wednesday August 31st, 12:00 p.m.
Thursday September 1st, 9:00 a.m.

The test is given on the Butler of El Dorado Campus located at 901 S. Haverhill Rd., El Dorado, KS 67042 in the 600 Building, Room 649. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once a test date is filled, no further applications for that test date will be taken.
Registration & Fees
Students must have an application for admittance to the Nursing program on file. If not, an application must be turned in before or at the same time as the TEAS registration.
A non-refundable registration fee of $65 must be sent via check or money order payable to Butler Community College and mailed along with the TEAS application to:

Applicants are responsible for the exam fee which must be paid at or before the time of test registration.
No telephone registrations for the TEAS will be accepted. A reservation will not be taken without the $65 registration fee or completed application form.
The exam fee is non-refundable. Applicants who do not show up on the date of their schedule exam will be required to pay the registration fee again when rescheduling exam date.
If and applicant wants to apply a TEAS score from another institution, the student must request the scores from the ATI website. There will be a charge for this.
A study guide is available in the Bookstore on both the El Dorado and Andover campuses as well as at the L.W. Nixon Library located in the 600 Building on the El Dorado campus. Students may also purchase the TEAS study guide at the ATI Nursing Education website.
On the Day of the Exam
- The student must bring a photo ID to be admitted to the testing lab.
- Please arrive in Room 649 15 minutes early for the test. Late applicants will not be admitted.
- Use of calculators will not be allowed during the test.
- Bring two pencils to the test. Scratch paper will be provided.
- Pagers and cell phones must be turned off while in the testing area.
Test results will be given to the student at the completion of their test. A copy of the test score will be attached to the student's application and placed in their file.
Re-Taking the TEAS
The TEAS test may be repeated only one time, with the best composite score used. It is the student’s discretion as to when they choose to take the exam.
You may take it before, during or at the completion of prerequisites.
The student will be required to submit a new teas registration to schedule a retake of the TEAS test. The student will be required to pay the $65 at the time of rescheduling.
You should receive a postcard confirming your test date. If you do not receive your confirmation, please call the nursing office to be sure the registration was received.
