Activity Director/Social Service Designee

Activity Director/Social Service Designees develop, implement, evaluate and document a social service plan for residents in adult care facilities under the direction of a licensed social worker. This class gives an overview of the bio-psychosocial aging process, common health problems of the elderly, health care delivery issues and an understanding of the dying process in the elderly. This program will discuss the role of the activity and social service department in resident care, the health care team concept, communication skills, regulatory standards, protocols, conflict resolution and management principles.

Prerequisites for Activity Director/Social Service Designee (AH116 - 4 credit hours)

  • Experience in long term care is helpful.
