Public Safety Officer

Full-time

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Public Safety Officer (PSO) reports to and is supervised by the Director of Public Safety. The PSO is assigned to provide a walking and driving patrol of the campus to protect personnel, property and facilities; to provide assistance when needed; respond to and manage emergency situations; deter criminal activity; detect and investigate criminal activity; provide for the safety and security of the College; and maintain peace and order on the campus. Required Knowledge and Skills: must meet people easily and display courtesies to them; must be able to follow written and oral instructions; possess good communication skills; possess a valid Kansas driver’s license; possess knowledge of radio operation, cell phone, and some mechanical, electrical and plumbing; possess basic computer skills to send and receive e-mail and prepare documents using word processing and spreadsheets; and possess the ability to respond to and manage emergency situations, resolve conflicts, deal with difficult persons, perform preliminary investigations and secure crime scenes. Preferred Experience: prior military or security experience preferred. Required Educational Background: high School graduate or equivalent; two years of college preferred. Special Characteristics: minimum age requirement is twenty-one (21) years of age. This provides an authority of legal age to enforce alcoholic beverage use regulations; position requires frequent vigorous physical activity and the ability to perform a continuous, active walking/driving patrol during 8 hour shift of the campus including climbing steps and ramps; neat in appearance; willingness to work irregular shifts and overtime hours and diverse assignments as directed; and be able to make decisions in emergencies. Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Lead Technician

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician performs maintenance and repair on all campus HVAC systems. The Technician also does minor electrical and plumbing installations, repairs and maintenance. This position has supervisory authority while under the direct supervision of the Supervisor of General Services- Facilities Management. Student Support Services Math Specialist

Part-time/10 hours per week

(SSS TRIO Grant funded position)

 

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The SSS Math Specialist will be responsible to the SSS Project Director for planning and coordinating services to grant participants. Through tutoring, curriculum development, supplemental math instruction and personal support plans the Math Specialist will assist program students in achieving progress toward goal attainment. He/She will be responsible for coordinating training and support for SSS Peer Tutors. The position requires flexible work hours including evening hours. Required knowledge and skills include strong organizational and communication skills, good judgment and maturity, a cooperative attitude and excellent interpersonal skills. HVAC and Maintenance Technician

The full-time Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining favorable environmental conditions in the college’s building facilities. Performs preventive and regular maintenance and repair on all college HVAC systems. Responsible to install, maintain, and repair refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, and air handling equipment; install and maintain pneumatic, electric, electronic, and cybertronic controls; operate energy management control system; weld, braze and solder; and cut, thread and install all types of piping. Also performs some electrical and plumbing duties and assists other Facilities Management departments as needed. Must have the ability to do trade related mathematics, make diagnostic decisions, read and update electrical and control diagrams, balance air flow and set variable volume boxes. Director of IT Institute (Grant-funded position)

DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

The Director will be responsible to the CTE/ATC Dean for planning, directing, and coordinating the development and delivery of the information Technology (IT) Institute as outlined in the federal grant from the Department of Labor. The Director will serve as the US Department of Labor (DOL) point of contact for the grant and is responsible for the implementation of the grant in accordance and compliance with the DOL contract. He/she is responsible for performance reporting, fiscal reporting, and procurement. He/she will provide internal coordination and management of the project, industry partners, reporting, budget management, compliance, communication, marketing, and outcomes. The Director maintains positive collaborative relationships and ongoing communication with students, Deans, faculty, grant management teams, grant sponsor, and industry partners. Director of College Relations & Marketing

     The Director of Marketing and College Relations is responsible to the Vice President of Advancement for planning, implementing and evaluating marketing and communications efforts that increase awareness of and enrollment at Butler Community College. This position oversees promotions, public relations, college relations, Content Management System (CMS) and web presence, social media, and communication strategies that fulfill the college’s strategic plan.

     The Director of Marketing and College Relations works closely with the Advancement division, Enrollment management, Institutional research, Web services and the President’s office to identify market segments and communicate effectively.  The position prioritizes projects that contribute to enrollment by accessing research, working collaboratively with various divisions, departments and colleagues and develops strategies that embrace our brand promise. The Director of Marketing and College Relations is the chief liaison for media buys, works within the requirements of the budget and maintains positive working relationships with creative agencies and vendors.

     Required Knowledge and Skills: demonstrated understanding and articulation of college mission, vision and strategic priorities; experience with planning, implementing and evaluating effective marketing campaigns that increase awareness of the college and enrollment; graphic design and media layout knowledge; ability to work within budget requirements and analyze spending effectiveness; ability to analyze marketing research; ability to communicate through strong writing and verbal skills; ability to distribute various advertising and public relations materials in targeted and effective ways; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to manage the marketing process, including strategic planning, budget and project management, creative and conceptual design; and the ability to strategically leverage resources in efficient, effective and measurable manner. Required Experience: documented experience with successful outcomes to include media relations in situations of crisis or pride; CMS and web presence oversight experience; proven experience in a marketing environment; experience in higher education preferred; administrative/supervisory experience; writing for advertising and/or public relations; campaign/marketing experience, including advertising and public relations at the local, metro and/or national level; computer and technology skills; preferred knowledge of Mac and PC platforms and software; and experience planning and managing a substantial annual budget. DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Under the direction of the lead instructor for Butler Community College, the Adjunct Clinical Nursing Instructor is responsible for instruction of nursing students to include laboratory and clinical area instruction. This position is responsible for instruction of nursing students in the medical/surgical/critical care clinical area.

BSN and MSN required; Medical/Surgical nursing experience preferred. The applicant may be requested to authorize the College to procure a consumer report(s) for employment purposes.
