Here, you learn both the theoretical and practical elements of pre-engineering studies. We take you step-by-step through physics, differential equations, statistics and more to prepare you for a career as an engineer.
Use engineering problem and solution techniques to design projects with innovative software and hardware. Study general principles of mechanics, heat, and sound to understand how physics works in engineering builds.
You’ll also learn engineering economics, including how to perform economic analysis for investment decisions on an engineering project. We then teach you to relate time value of money, differential cost and revenue, and the trade-off between risk and reward to engineering projects.
We offer both degree paths to give you options. Pre-Engineering preps you for transfer to a bachelor's degree program in engineering. You’ll gain theoretical understanding and problem-solving skills in mathematics, physics and engineering principles. Engineering Technology is an applied program and emphasizes practical applications of engineering principles by building hands-on skills and technical knowledge.
Our program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of a Pre-Engineering career. Once you earn your associate degree, you have transfer options to build on your Butler experience.
Your Pre-Engineering education can lead you to a future in careers like:
Looking for extra help to be successful in physics and math? We have tutors at the El Dorado and Andover campuses. You can visit our tutors in-person and online.
These are some examples of courses in our Pre-Engineering program.
Our Engineering Technology degree transfers to WSU's and KSU's bachelor's degree programs. Your coursework includes drafting, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), materials testing and manufacturing processes. We're designed to get you industry ready.
Qualified students in eligible programs can earn their two-year degree and have their tuition, fees and books paid for.
