Butler Announces Winners of 2026 Butler County Spelling Bee

Butler Community College hosted the annual 2026 Butler County Spelling Bee on Friday, February 6 in the R.D. Hubbard Welcome Center on the El Dorado campus. Samuel Riley of Andover Middle School was named champion for the second year in a row.

A total of 25 contestants from Butler County elementary and middle schools competed, with Samuel correctly spelling "hydrophobia" in the sixth round to be named the winner. Second and third place were solidified in the eleventh round.

Riley will now compete in the State Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, KS.

Harmony Hart of Circle Greenwich Elementary finished second and Macy Train from Meadowlark Elementary in Andover placed third.
