Butler Theatre to Present “Suzette Who Set to Sea”

Butler Theatre will present “Suzette Who Set to Sea” on Saturday, February 21 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Created for young and new theatre audiences, this 45-minute adventure follows Suzette, a determined young girl who dares to break the rules of her seaside village to save the people she loves.

Set in a world where men build boats and women are forbidden from the sea, the show tells the story of a girl who knows she is meant for something more. When a mysterious event puts the village’s men in danger, Suzette secretly loads her loved ones onto a boat she built herself and sets sail.  

Along the way, she and her crew encounter sea monsters, feuding islanders and unexpected friends. The production explores lessons about courage, connection and believing in oneself.

This playful and heartfelt production by Australian playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer is directed by Theatre Chair Leslie Coates, with Technical Direction by Instructor Caden Runnalls and Technical Design by Instructor April Thomson.
