A recent visit from U.S. Congressman Ron Estes to Butler Community College’s welding facility in Rose Hill highlighted the strength of the college’s hands-on workforce training model and its deep ties to local partners.
Estes toured the facility, located on the campus of Rose Hill High School, and watched students demonstrate what they’ve learned in their classes. The congressman said the visit gave him a chance to see the impact of the college’s partnerships up close.
“It was great to visit with Butler Community College at Rose Hill to see their new partnership that includes incredible offerings for welding classes for students. This partnership is a prime example of how community and hard work can lead to inspiring our next generation of engaged students learning high-demand, hands-on skills.”
Butler President Dr. Tamara Daniel said the visit offered a firsthand look at how Butler is working with area schools and industry, while also underscoring the power of that collaboration.
“What stood out while touring the welding program is how strong the partnership is between Rose Hill schools, Butler Community College, and local industry,” Daniel said. “This is what workforce development should look like, students learning in a real lab environment, guided by faculty, and connected to future employers. I hope Representative Estes saw just how impactful that collaboration can be.”
