Theatre and Box Office Scholarships

Apply for a Theatre and Box Office Scholarship

Does creating the best experience for an audience to enjoy a stage-worthy production entice you? If you love to build sets, act on stage, manage lights and audio or work the customer-facing ticket booth, we'd love for you to audition.

Audition and Interview Information

Theatre and Box Office scholarships are available in a variety of amounts as cash endowed scholarships payable toward your tuition. Students applying must have earned at least a 2.0 GPA in their most recent semester. See the tabs below to learn about each Theatre scholarship option.

You need the following for each of your auditions or interviews:

  • Résumé, including GPA
  • A cover letter introducing yourself and your interest in theatre
  • A recent photograph

Our fine arts performances and events are only as strong as our front-of-house team. Front of House/Box Office scholars gain real-life experience in customer service and computerized ticketing.

Applicants should be good with people, have strong organizational skills and be willing to learn new things. For your interview please provide the above material asked of all applicants. If possible, present a portfolio of your work including one or more of the following:

    • art projects
    • lobby displays
    • flyers
    • posters
    • graphic design

Our Performance students grace the stage and lead our audiences on unforgettable journeys. With your castmates, you help create a world.

We offer both in-person and virtual auditions with different submission guidelines. Please view our requirements for your preferred audition option.

Two prepared, memorized solo acting pieces (optional: alternative to one monologue, one 16 bar song selection) – not to exceed three minutes in combined length.

Be prepared to give the title of your piece(s) and to cold read a short scene provided to you.

Your virtual audition video must include your name and be cropped to see 3 quarters of your body from hip to head. Max duration is 3 minutes.

Please upload your video of your two, unedited acting pieces to YouTube as an unlisted video and submit the link via email to theatre@butlercc.edu with the rest of your submission documents.

Our students behind the curtain are a vital part of our successful shows, from building, painting, and setting the stage to working light and audio controls for the best audience experience.

To audition for a Technical Theatre scholarship, please submit the above required materials and

    • Portfolio/photos of work from theatre productions/concerts
