From the Page to the Stage
It’s a "learn by doing" environment inside the Theatre program. Every year, we produce multiple mainstage productions and student-led projects. No matter the genre or style, you can trust your director, cast and crew to help you captivate the audience.
Take the Stage
Is acting your passion? In our program, you grace the stage from your very first semester. You work and bond with your peers and instructors, building your confidence and skillset beyond the curtain.
We carve plenty of practice time in your schedule. This gives you time to work on your craft as a group and individually to shape your skills. Our instructors are here to mentor you and challenge you for a great show.
Build Your Stage
If your theatre comfort zone is behind the curtain, we're the place for you. From your very first semester, you plan, build, paint and set stages. You and your crewmates structure a world meant to capture an audience.
Our program is designed to give you plenty of time working on your skillset. You work with your crewmates as a group and individually with instructors. Your instructors are here to mentor and challenge you. Have a question? You have space to ask and problem solve here.
Community Involvement
Our annual Theatre for Young Audiences gives you the opportunity to pass your passion to young learners. We invite area county elementary schools to feel the stage magic with you. With a play for younger viewers in mind, you and your fellow cast and crewmates will show these local children why theatre is a worthy experience.
University Transfer and Future Career Options
Our program is designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of a Theatre career. Once you earn your associate degree, you have transfer options to build on your Butler experience.
Your Theatre education can lead you to a future in careers like:

- Designer (makeup, set, costume, hair, etc.)

Fine Arts Scholarships
Take advantage of our books and in-state tuition scholarships in music, theatre, art and mass communications. The best part? You can be any major and still be a scholarship candidate.
Delta Psi Omega Student Organization
The purpose of the 95th Cast of Delta Psi Omega is to promote interest in drama at Butler and to acknowledge students’ contributions to theatre at Butler. Pledges are invited into the organization based on their activity in the college theatre program.
