Local Chapter and Phi Theta Kappa Programs

The local chapter - Alpha Phi Alpha is building a program that encompasses the Honors Study topic "Gold, Gods, and Glory: the global dynamics of POWER " in our programs We encourage students to use this topic as a focal point for their research and papers and presentations required for many of their classes including English Composition II, speech, history, and biology. We are excited to continue partnering with the American Cancer Society with the society's 2018 challenge to raise $10 million by Phi Theta Kappa's 100th anniversary. We are also emphasizing the International Service Program - "Operation Green:Improving our Communities" - to beautify, recycle, stop grafitti, and clean up our community. We also encourage students to "Voice Your Vote" whether it is a presidential election year, or a local mayoral or school board race. Get to know who the candidates are, what they stand for, and VOTE!. For more information on society programs, go to http://www.ptk.org/programs.

Hallmarks

The four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa are Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Fellowship. Phi Theta Kappa chapters focus their programming throughout the year in these four areas to help develop future leaders participate in intellectual discussions on the current honors study topic, serve their communities, and find a fellowship of scholars to belong to. It's not about toga parties. Our society is not a fraternity or a sorority. Members are invited to join because they have established themselves as excellent students, the top 2% of their college peers. We invite these students to grow in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. In the end, students are eligible for many transfer scholarships due to the fact that four year colleges recognize that graduating Phi Theta Kappa ns are among the very best college sophomores in the country (including those at the four year colleges).

Phi Theta Kappa Pipeline Group

Our pipeline group allows students to chat with other members, post messages about up coming events and ideas for projects. Members may e-mail other members as well as leaders, to increase the communication among members and leaders. The group also has it's own calendar so that you can see what events will be coming up during the semester and can plan accordingly. To join, just tell us who your are and click "Join Group". That's all there is to it.

Updated Information on upcoming events, click on "Chapter News". This will be updated each month with a list of events and photos from the previous event. Our goal is to have monthly articles and photos about events our chapter has been involved in during the past month.
