Are you interested in becoming an operator of an assisted living facility? Butler Community College's certification program prepares you to take the licensing exam approved by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services for operators of assisted living, residential healthcare, home plus and adult day care facilities.

This course is a five-day, three-credit hour course. Students will take their state exam on the following Monday, May 6th. After passing your exam, you will be certified to operate a licensed adult care home facility in Kansas.

The training in this course will cover every aspect of management that pertains to the services provided in these facilities, including food preparation, socialization activities, the protection of residents rights and dignity, and the development and administration of service plans.

OPERATOR CAREER DETAILS AND EARNINGS:

An Assistant Living Facility Operator is responsible for supervising the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations governing the assisted living community and as may be required by the department director or supervisor to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained. The employee values the assisted living community as the residents’ home and works to create attributes of home and models person centered care.

REREQUISITES FOR OPERATOR TRAINING FOR ASSISTED LIVING (AH 225, 3 CREDIT HOURS)

 

  • Option A Possess a Baccalaureate degree in any area of study
  • Option B Possess an Associate's degree in a relevant field as determined by Health Occupations Credentialing
  • Option C Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with one year relevant experience as by Health Occupations Credentialing.
