About Visual Arts
At Butler, you obtain a strong technical foundation in art and utilize a variety of materials, from painting to sculpture to pottery. With this foundation, you develop sustainable art-making practices. Exhibiting artists help you create a strong, competitive portfolio that launches you to the next level, either into the profession or to a four-year college or art institute.
Graduates of Butler’s art program are pursuing successful careers in art galleries, design studios and in education. Butler’s success stories include a professional photographer in Hong Kong, a filmmaker in Egypt and painters, designers and educators from San Diego to New York. When you study art at Butler, you become a part of a close-knit, supportive community of artists striving to further each other.
Scholarships are available to full-time students interested in art. Scholarships are awarded, based on the submission of portfolios during Fine Arts Audition Day.
Butler's art gallery, the Erman B. White Art Gallery, is home to six art exhibits each school year from regionally and nationally recognized artists. Every April, students participate in a juried art exhibition and have the opportunity to showcase their works of art in the gallery. We finish each academic year with a student art sale.
