Butler Community College Honors Student, Staff and Faculty Leaders
Butler Community College hosted its annual Student Life Awards to honor students, faculty and staff who exemplify outstanding leadership.
Butler Community College hosted its annual Student Life Awards on April 26. The ceremony honored students, faculty and staff who exemplify outstanding leadership.
Shelby Axtell of Montezuma, Kansas was named Outstanding Student Worker. She is studying business administration and works in the Residence Life office. One of the people who nominated her spoke of her character, calling her “kind-spirited and having a strong work ethic.”
“It’s been fun to interact with all the students,” Axtell said.
This year’s Outstanding Student Leader is Taylor Allison, a native of El Dorado. Allison graduated from Circle High School and will receive her associate degree in health science in May. The quote that was read about Allison was, “She works hard to be successful in all aspects of life.”
Allison, who plans to attend Pittsburg State University in the fall, said she grew up at Butler.
“I went to EduCare here,” Allison said. “My education started at Butler.”

Outstanding Staff: Debbie Reiter (Verification Assistant) & Katie Hasting (Financial Aid Counselor)
Outstanding Student Advocate: Brian Foster (Interactive Technology Instructor)
Butler Unsung Hero: Andrea Weiss (Coordinator of Student Involvement) & Averie Nelson (Scholarship Coordinator)
