Question and answer session planned for community

The Butler Community College Board of Trustees are finalizing arrangements for a listening tour of Butler County and its service area. The visits will begin in mid-July and will provide an opportunity for area citizens to connect with Butler’s board members to ask questions, share concerns, and dialogue about ideas for stronger economic development in the region.

“This is good for not only the college’s mission and work, but also for the good of the county and region in relation to future growth and development,” said Butler Trustee Board Chair Eileen Dreiling. “We want to learn how Butler can be more helpful to our local communities.”

Recently, Kansas 77th District Rep. Kristey Williams invited Trustee Dreiling and Trustee JoAnn Craven to join her at William’s upcoming Town Hall meetings in Douglas and Augusta.

“After much consideration, our board opted to decline this invitation. Our needs require a broader perspective from our county citizens. I want more than just a question and answer session,” said Dreiling. “My fellow board members and I are connected with our local neighborhoods and communities, but we want to ensure we reach the citizens across the county and our service area. Their thoughts are important to us.”

The college is designated by the state to serve a five-county service area including: Butler, Marion, Morris, Greenwood, and Chase counties. The public is invited to attend any of the following free community meetings.
