Graduation Ceremonies Change for May 2019
2019 Commencement Ceremonies are scheduled for May 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Butler Community College will hold its annual May graduation ceremonies this year as a single event Friday evening, rather than host two Saturday graduation ceremonies (morning and afternoon) as done in the past.
he event will be held May 17, at 7 p.m. in an outside ceremony at the BG Products Veteran’s Sports Complex at the corner of Haverhill and Central. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will move to Saturday morning.
In addition, the traditional Order of the Purple Ceremony, historically held on Friday evening, the night before graduation, will be held Friday afternoon on May 17 at 2:30 p.m. These changes reflect the need for a larger venue as the college’s gymnasium was no longer able to satisfactorily accommodate graduation attendees which was requiring family and friends to watch the ceremony via overflow accommodations in the college theatre.
Nurses’ Pinning will be held Thursday, May 16, 7 pm. In the Butler Gymnasium.
