The Early College Academy program provides a college degree attainable before high school graduation

El Dorado, Kan. – Laced among the faces of Butler Community College’s 2019 graduating class are 70 individuals who have completed Butler’s Early College Academy; earning two degrees simultaneously.

The Early College Academy gives high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credits and experience while finishing their high school careers.

“Butler definitely impacted me and helped me find a pathway for my life,” said Ashley Small of Augusta, Kan., who will be among those graduating from Butler on Friday.

Not only has enrollment in the academy earned Small an associate degree at the age of 17, she has also gained experience along the way.

Small said, “When somebody asks me about the Academy, the first thing I say is take the opportunity.”
